Talent Solutions to Utilize Supply Chain Data to Improve Efficiency

Client: Independent Soda Distribution Company
This client is the largest independent soda bottler in the US. The company makes, sells, and distributes 250+ brands and flavors in a wide variety of package types and sizes.

The Challenge:

Over the last few years, the client has acquired several new territories. These acquisitions have highlighted the glaring efficiency and cost-redundancy issues associated with a lack of available supply chain data. Batch processing ran from 12 a.m.-8 a.m. daily, and the client could not afford to make any changes that would elongate the process. The client desperately wanted to accurately analyze and aggregate the data to provide the information they needed to reach their goals but were concerned that the only solution would be to create an entirely new system from scratch. They were seeking alternative solutions that would be less of an investment, but still yield the desired results.

The Solution:

As a standing trusted partner, Eliassen Group was asked to help achieve these goals. We deployed consultants specializing in Azure, supply chain, and data analytics who could produce the desired results for a fraction of the estimated price and in a shorter amount of time. The team devised a plan to alter the current system to better showcase the supply chain and demand planning data without having to build a new system from scratch.

The Result:

Instead of building an entirely new reporting system, our consultants resolved the issue by using an on-premises system to implement Azure Data Factory and add limited modifications to the client’s current environment. This made the desired statistics accessible, but also cut average data processing time from 8 hours to 40 minutes per night. The client was highly satisfied with the minor investment they made to incur maximum results. We provided a long-term, cost-effective solution that will provide positive business outcomes for the client for many years to come.
