System Implementation Support and Process Optimization in Life Sciences

The Client: This innovative, privately held spine and medical technology company is dedicated to creating surgeon-designed solutions in minimally invasive surgery and minimally disruptive access for the treatment of complex spinal pathology. Incorporating state-of-the-art manufacturing, 3-D printing, and an acute sensitivity to patient anatomy, they have made quantum leaps in the spinal fusion market.

The Challenge

The company needed help with managing their Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP) transition from QuickBooks to Oracle NetSuite. They needed additional support because their existing non-standardized processes required extensive manual intervention to complete the following: Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Inventory Control.

The Solution

Eliassen Group had an ongoing relationship with the client, and we stepped in to project manage and develop/provide deliverables to keep the NetSuite implmentation timeline on track. We prepared and documented process flowcharts to include business process changes as a result of the new system implementation, and we handled project management tasks, such as project planning, resource management, project monitoring, and status reporting. We also worked with client management to provide information to the system implementor to properly customize the ERP system for the company’s requirements.

While working on project management, we also organized and managed the improvement of master data to be utilized in the new system, facilitated an inventory count to provide assurance over inventory balances prior to go-live, and supported the company's Finance team through month-end close activities, including, sales, inventory, and reporting.
