Business Process Optimization for Newly Expanded Finance and Operations Teams

Client: Construction Services Provider
This client is a European based construction services provider who has recently expanded into the eastern United States with a division dedicated to delivering infrastructure-related professional services around new store construction and store remodels. The offerings of this division include the full lifecycle of capital project requirements for large grocery stores including Food Lion, 7-Eleven, Ahold, Stop & Shop, and more.

The Challenge:

This division has experienced significant growth over the last 3 years and expects to maintain a similar rate of growth moving forward. They are currently using an accounting system, Sage 300, that they have been running since they were a much smaller company over a decade ago, with fewer clients and products. The current end-to-end process is not fully understood by any single person, and the finance team is experiencing significant turnover due to the ongoing frustrations with the processes and systems.

The Solution:

Due to the experience and expertise of EG’s business optimization team, the client chose to partner with us to facilitate the documentation of their current end-to-end processes. We employed the following steps in resolving the issues that the client faced:

  • Conducted interviews with the finance Subject Matter Experts.
  • Created current state process maps.
  • Identified pain points.
  • Developed and prioritized solutions to solve the pain points.

The Result:

By interviewing the Finance and Operations teams, we discovered nearly 100 pain points and quickly developed a list of prioritized opportunities to solve them. We then laid a strong foundation for an IT transformation initiative to select a new ERP system to increase process efficiencies.
