The Agile Senior Leadership Workshop prepares executives, managers and other senior leaders to guide an Agile Transformation in their organization. A successful Agile Transformation can shorten the cycle time from business idea to production from a year or more to three months or less – if senior leadership plays a continuing role supporting Agile and changing how business is done within the organization.

This workshop provides an introduction to the principles and practices of Scrum, Kanban, XP (Extreme Programming) and other core Agile concepts. It also outlines the Agile Transformation process, how to scale Agile from individual teams to enterprise-wide programs, changes in how other business functions should work with development, and new roles and responsibilities of leaders in an Agile organization.

It is recommended that the participants in each session be at a similar level. Participants should represent a cross-section of functional areas, such as software/IT, product management, project management, marketing, operations, release engineering, human resources, finance and sales.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, attendees should be able to:

  • See the full picture of how a business initiative moves from initial business idea through to revenue generation
  • Gain a feel for Agile in practice, participants create a “product,” write Epics, create a backlog, and produce a release plan broken down into Minimum Viable Increments
  • Determine the leadership’s Agile goals
  • Address business, leadership and supporting infrastructure issues
  • Understand how an Agile Transformation influences the interactions between development groups and marketing, product management, human resources and other business functions
  • Create a backlog that serves as a list of next steps for the senior leadership
